Frequently Asked Questions
Need help listening to any of the online content at Calvary Chapel South Bay? This section is designed to help you troubleshoot any audio technical problems you may experience.
- How do I install the Real Player?
-
Click here to download Real Player setup file. There is NO need to buy Real Player Plus, or any other product or service from Real.com in order to watch the live broadcast, and NO need to take the 14 day free trial.
The automatic download page may ask you for permission to begin the download of the Real One Player. You can simply click, YES to begin. This should download the simplest version of the RealOne Player with no additional options or features since it will be the most efficient process and least download time. When asked for your email address, you may enter "real@player.com" so that you do not receive any unwelcome email solicitations.
- I see links to Real audio files on the web site, now what do I do?
-
Here are the steps you should go through to be able to listen the services:
- GET THE REAL PLAYER. Click here. It will take you to the Real Player download site where you can download the FREE version of the Real Player. See more instructions above.
- INSTALL THE REAL PLAYER. After you download the player to your hard drive, you will need to close your Web browser, then install the Real Player by double clicking on the file that was downloaded and saved to your hard drive. Follow the instructions carefully that will come up.
- CLICK THE LIVE LINK. After you have installed the software, click on the link to listen to the service. You should be able to listen to the services with a minimum 14.4-baud connection.
- How do I listen through a firewall?
-
Real Audio/Video streams through port 7070, which is commonly blocked by firewalls and proxy servers at corporations. If you are behind a firewall or proxy, you can use a port the firewall and proxy leaves open, which is port 80, to get the Real Audio/Video content.
In order to do this, you may have to use the "Smart Networking Feature" in Real Player. Smart Networking enables the player to first try port 7070 via a network stream and if blocked, it then tries port 80 via http. If your Real Player does not automatically switch with smart networking to use port 80 (instead of the default 7070), then you can configure Real Player manually to get HTTP content if you are behind a firewall or proxy.
To do this, in your Real Player, go to tools-preferences and click on the "Use Specified Transports" radio button. Then click on the "Specify transports" button and then click on the radio button, "Use HTTP only". Click OK, and now try clicking on one of the Real Audio/Video links on the Web.
- What does "Net congestion" or "stopping broadcast" mean?
-
If you are experiencing Net congestion, or your RealPlayer is stopping during a live or archived broadcast, it means your RealPlayer is unable to get the information fast enough from our servers. Most of the time this means your Internet service provider is experiencing heavy traffic, or when connecting to the Internet your modem did not achieve an optimal connection. Here are some things that may help solve this problem:
- Try disconnecting (hang up) from your Internet Service Provider, and then dial back up again to try to establish a higher speed and cleaner connection.
- If your Real Player stops, try clicking on the link again. It may have simply been a temporary glitch.
- Try coming back at another time. If your Internet Service Provider is down or experiencing heavy traffic, please come back at another time to listen the broadcast.
- Can I save the Real Audio or Real Video files to my computer to watch later?
-
If you would like to save the Real Audio or Real Video sermons on your computer, you will have to pay for a copy of Real Player Plus. Company blurb: "Using Real Player Plus you can record and save files to be played back later without an Internet connection, allowing you to save time online or store content for later replay — just like with a tape recorder or VCR."
- Nothing here seems to help, where can I get additional information?
-
If nothing on this Frequently Asked Questions section has helped you can also reference the Real Networks Support Site for additional information.
