Are You Wasting Time Building Your Reputation?

Dec 9, 2013 | 0 comments

Reputations are very important in life!

Wikipedia defines the reputation of a social entity (a person, social group, or organization) as an opinion about that entity, typically a result of social evaluation on a set criteria.

In other words, it is what someone thinks of you.

So here are two questions that you need to ask yourself when it comes to your reputation:

1.  What are you known for right now?

2.  What would you like to be known for after you pass away?

The first question is designed to get you thinking about your past actions that have led you to become who you are today.

Our past determines our future and that can be changed by our choices.

The second question is designed to get you thinking about who you want to become.

My advice to you is that you be intentional about who you want to become because if you don’t, then you’ll end up becoming someone you don’t like.

Once you can answer those two questions, you’ll need to start working towards becoming known for those things.

I highly recommend you write your answers to these questions down because it will help you to think about them.  There’s just something magical about writing something down, kind of like a diary or a journal.

You’ll be surprised by the things you jot down on paper that you had no idea were in your heart or on your mind.

Advice on How to Have a Great Reputation

You cannot control what others think or say about you. However, you can control what you do!

As Christians, the main thing we should want to be known for in life and death is for being a follower of Christ.

God is supposed to be the first priority in our lives.

Therefore, our lives should revolve around our relationship with Him. People should be able to see Christ in you.

Your actions should include serving the Lord which you can do in many ways. God has given us all special talents, skills, and gifts that are unique to us.

We can use those talents, skills, and gifts to benefit the Holy Kingdom. For example, you can volunteer at church or use your business to serve God’s Kingdom in some way.

And you can be sure that your service does count! You might think that serving in some kind of capacity isn’t really going to have much of an impact.

But the truth of the matter is that people watch what you do.

Also, your actions in and out of the public eye matter to God.

The bible does state that whatever you do in private for the Holy Kingdom, God will reward you openly for.

Matthew 6: 3 – 4 says:

“But when you give to the poor, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving will be in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.”

The Right Attitude

You should want the world to see the effect of God in your life! Let this be your reputation!

If your name was listed in the Bible, wouldn’t you want to be known as a follower of God?

Make it your life’s goal to become known for something worthwhile…being a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ and being in Service to the Holy Kingdom!!!

You’ll never be sorry that you did.
