Did You Forget That You’re Blessed Beyond Measure?

Nov 10, 2014 | 4 comments

When people ask me every day, “How are you doing?” I answer, “Blessed beyond measure.”

Most people get a kick from hearing my response.  I find it intriguing that even my fellow brothers in Christ sometimes find my answer to be that of an exaggeration.

However, I’m aware of my identity in Christ!

3 Benefits of Being a Child of God

Here are just a few of the benefits that happened to you when you chose to put your faith in Christ.  I hope they’ll serve as a reminder of the benefits of being a son or a daughter of God.

1.  You went from being an enemy of God to becoming God’s righteousness!

The bible says in Colossians 1:21-22:

And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight.

And in 2 Corinthians 5:21:

For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Not to mention that as a Christian, you know where you’re going when you pass away.  You don’t have to worry about that at all:

These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.

-1 John 5:13

It’s more than obvious that what John is referring to in this passage is eternal life in heaven. In the context of the chapter, God explains what salvation is, and the confidence God wants us to have in our eternal security.

I have that. Do you?

2.  You have God caring about the minor details of your life.

The apostle Peter tells us that we can cast all of our cares upon God because He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7).

Not only that, but we can go to God at any time and tell Him what’s bothering us.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God

-Philippians 4:6

Not only will he hear our request, but He’ll honor it according to His perfect purpose for our life!

Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.

-1 John 5:14

This includes things like love, money, work, children, and anything else that you might be anxious about.

3.  You’re empowered by the spirit of the living God!

But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

-Acts 1:8

That means that when you are weak, God is strong inside of you.  When you feel like you’re all alone, God is actually helping you get through it.

What Does This All Mean For You?

Nowhere in the bible does it say that walking with the LORD is a walk in the park.  However, when you’re going through a rough time, you have to remember the most important truths:

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.

-Proverbs 3:5-6

And don’t forget, you’re already victorious in Christ:

You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

-1 John 4:4

When you feel sad or maybe just frustrated because things aren’t going your way,  remember your emotions don’t define the true and living GOD.

1 John 3:20 reminds us, “For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things.”

Regardless of how we think about our situation, we should consider that God’s ways will ALWAYS be higher than ours!

Don’t forget, the enemy will try to lie to you, and will try to make you feel worthless.

But you are precious in the sight of  God, and if you still haven’t discovered your identity in Him, then you need to do that right away.

We need to know who we are in CHRIST because the devil will try to deceive us into thinking we are something else besides the truth: children of the living God.

So the next time that someone asks about how you’re doing, remember that you can reply with all joy despite your circumstances:

“I’m Blessed Beyond Measure !!!”
