“Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.” – Galatians 5:1

Does freedom ring in your heart and life?

Or, are the chains of bondage still weighing you down?

As Christians, we are very familiar with trials and tribulations.

But when it comes to freedom…does that liberty bell truly ring?

Is there any hope for deliverance?

Is there a way to live a victorious life in Christ?

If so, how?

How You Can Truly Let Freedom Ring

On March 20, 1775, Patrick Henry, a delegate to the Second Virginia Convention, addressed the gathering to raise a militia to join the fight against the British.

Here is a portion of his address.

“It is in vain, sir, to extenuate the matter. Gentlemen may cry, Peace, Peace but there is no peace. The war is actually begun!

“The next gale that sweeps from the north will bring to our ears the clash of resounding arms! Our brethren are already in the field!

“Why stand we here idle? What is it that gentlemen wish? What would they have? Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery?

“Forbid it, Almighty God! I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!”

The battle cry of all believers today should be, “Give me Jesus and give me LIFE”!

As the battle rages between good and evil in the world you live in, you have a choice to
make.

A decision to take a stand for God. 

Or to roll over and wallow in a sea of complacency.

You can choose to get on your knees and beg God for forgiveness for your wicked ways, or you can ignore the reality that there is a battle.

As your freedom in this country erodes into a heap of confusion and despair, you have to remember the freedom available to you and others.

You have to remember there are 5 freedoms that you can take advantage of today. They are:

• truth
• confession
• faith
• grace
• and Christ

1. Freedom in Truth:

“And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”– John 8:32

There is a very liberating experience that comes with being transparent and honest.

When you deal with the truth, without playing games, good things happen.

Real communication takes place.

Trust is restored.

Relationships are healed.

Truthful actions bring about improved lives.

In Ephesians 6, the belt of truth is the first piece of spiritual armor.

It’s been said that everything hangs off of the truth.

And in spiritual warfare, when you’re being attacked by the father of lies, it’s always best to start with the truth.

When you come to Jesus, you come to the truth of your sin.

The truth of your need for a Savior and the truth of His great love for you!

You’re then able to cry graciously out, “God, be merciful to me a sinner!”

2. Freedom in Confession:

“If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” – Romans 10:9

One key element to the gospel of Jesus Christ is repentance.

When you’re able to overcome your pride and your innate selfishness, and truly turn from your sins, then the Holy Spirit can do His cleansing work.

Only then can you truly born again.

And when you’re born again by the Spirit, you’ll experience true freedom from sin and
judgment.

3. Freedom in Faith:

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” – 2 Corinthians 5:7

It’s interesting how the world is so blind to think that they’re “free to do whatever they want.”

When in truth the world without Jesus is in bondage to sin.

When you walk in darkness, separated from God, being enemies of God, you’ll never find true contentment and peace.

The freedom of a believer comes from knowing by faith that God is walking through this life with them.

“But without faith, it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” – Hebrews 11:6

4. Freedom in Grace

“For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” – John 1:17 

Jesus is the epitome of grace and truth.

He’s the perfect balance of demonstrative love and providing for our desperate need for salvation.

There’s freedom in knowing that Jesus made the way to heaven by His finished work on the cross.

There’s no other work required!

We’re saved by believing in the free gift of God’s grace.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” – Ephesians 2:8-9

5. Freedom in Christ

“The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed…” – Luke 4:18

Oppression comes to you in various ways:

• spiritual warfare
• corrupt governments
• wars
• worldly neighbors
• and bullies

“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” – John 16:33

Only in Christ, you are truly free.

Your sins are washed away by the blood of the Lamb.

“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.” – Romans 8:1-2

In Christ, you’re free from the law of death and sin.

You’re free because of His grace and mercy!

“For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 8:38-39

There is freedom in knowing that nothing can separate you from His great love.

“Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed!” – John 8:36
