Are You Doubting God’s Promises? Here’s What You Can Do

Aug 5, 2013 | 2 comments

As a follower of Christ, we need to learn to have a Jesus-like faith.

It’s hard sometimes because we often rely on our own understanding instead of believing what God says in His Word.

While our faith is not perfect, Jesus’s unwavering faith is perfect!

It’s a hard process to learn to have a Jesus-like faith because we like instant gratification.

I mean, who likes to wait when you can have what you you’re asking for right NOW?

I have to confess that I still struggle with this daily.

Our human nature teaches us to look towards our own understanding and do things to get rewarded with God’s favor.

However, we cannot do ANYTHING to receive God’s favor! It’s a gift from God and we have to ask the Holy Spirit to renew our mind.

What Does Jesus-Like Faith Look Like?

We have to have faith that Jesus can change us and our circumstances. We need to lean not on our own understanding because Jesus can do much more than we can!

God’s blessing comes when we realize that we can’t do anything without Jesus allowing it in our lives.

We have a mighty creator who performs miracles!

Check out these Bible verses on how powerful a faith in Jesus can be:

Acts 3:16
When Peter healed the lame man in Solomon’s Porch and the people marveled, Peter said:

“And His name, through faith in His name, hath made this man strong, whom you see and know; yea, the faith which is by Him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all”.

Galatians 2:20

“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”.

Key Takeaway

So if you’re struggling with your faith today remember one thing; it doesn’t take much.  All you need is just a mustard seed of faith and God will use it to do the unexpected in your life!

So while you are waiting on Him by faith remember this one thing:

God knows every need, every struggle & every desire. He has it all figured out & you’re in the palm of His hand.

I have a random question. Not sure where to post exactly and it has to do with looking to Jesus to satisfy us. I am a woman and a new Christian. I’m learning that, “I will surely multiply your pain in childbearing; in pain you shall bring forth children. Your desire shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you.” Gen. 3:16 ” I am having a hard time with this scripture. I understand that is the curse to humanity but Jesus is the cure. I guess I have a hard time with this issue with the man of God I am dating. I desire for him to fulfill me. There are a lot of worldly things trying to break a couple apart and I feel like my constant need/desire for love and attention from him is something that can break us apart. Jesus is the cure but if it were fully true wouldn’t women not have to feel pain when they give birth to a child? So am I, as a woman, always cursed with my husband “ruling” over me? If the curse is broken then why do women experience this pain. And why does the woman have to take all the pain? Both physically and emotionally.

      Dear N.val

Be assured that you are not the only woman who has struggled with those very thoughts. First and foremost, Jesus is the cure… for all of our spiritual and emotional needs. At the time of the fall when mankind was put out of the garden, they not only suffered in a physical sense, but more importantly in a spiritual sense. Mankind, (we) were cut off from the presence of God. As it says in Col 1:21, we were at odds or alienated from God. The Father sent His Son so that we can be born again spiritually so we can be reconciled to God in a spiritual way. Jesus’ first coming and his death and resurrection is the cure for our dead spiritual souls.

The physical part of the curse will unfortunately continue until Jesus comes again for his church. The physical world itself is not yet redeemed. Sin is in the world. Pain in child birth is only one of the things that occurred. The Bible states that the prince of darkness is the ruler of this earth. He is at work in all the death and destruction we see.

We are spiritually redeemed, but the world we live in continues to groan for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. As to why women have to take all the pain I only have one response. I don’t know. Why was my husband diagnosed with cancer 3 weeks after we got married? I don’t know either. It’s one of those things that you just have to leave at the foot of the cross and trust that God in His great knowledge and goodness will take care of.

You stated that you desire the man you are dating to fulfill you… that will never happen completely because he is, like you, an imperfect human being. There will be times when you each let each other down, thus leaving your heart sad and unfulfilled. What you said in your comments was true, if you feel like you need constant attention, love etc from this man to be fulfilled this will tear you apart… He can’t possible be everything you need, cause if he was then there would be no need for Jesus in your life. If your man is greater than Jesus in your life then he is an idol. Jesus must hold the pre-eminent position. We as women need to learn first to give our hearts to Jesus completely. Allow Him to change our hearts into hearts that will respond to the Holy Spirit that is in us once we receive Him. I have found that the more I depend on Jesus the less I am “let down” by others. I must allow the Lord to not only work in my life and make me more like Him, but also pray that He will work in the life of the people that are in my life. If you let Jesus “rule” over you then no one else can really rule over you cause you are submitting to Jesus in all you are doing.
