Are You Looking for Satisfaction in the Right Places?

“Jesus replied, ‘Anyone who drinks this water will soon become thirsty again. But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.'” – John 4:13-14

This is a story of a woman who tried to fill the empty hole in her heart with the things of this world.

In going about her everyday business, she came face to face with none other than Jesus Christ Himself seeking a drink of water at a well.

This woman was living in sexual sin. She was having relations with men other than her husband. When Jesus began exposing her dirty laundry she thought no one else knew, something amazing happened.

This woman was not stoned for immoral living. She was not condemned and sentenced to hell for all eternity.

No.

This woman was given an opportunity to confess her sins, turn from her sins, and drink of living water that would enable her to never thirst again.

My Little-Known Story

Before I rededicated my life to Jesus Christ, this true story which was written a long time ago, painted the perfect picture of who I used to be.

I was raised in a Christian home. I prayed to God and believed in Jesus, but I never fully surrendered my life to Him and still tried to quench my thirst with the things of this world.

As a result, I was never fully satisfied.

We will never be fully satisfied with the things this world has to offer us. No matter how much you have, you will always be left wanting more.

True contentment cannot be found in relationships, pleasure, wealth, or possessions because striving after these things is all vanity and meaningless, it’s as if you were chasing the wind. (Ecc. 1:14)

Are You Putting Your Hope in the Wrong Things?

As Christians, we cannot put our hope in this world because this world is fading away.

True fulfillment comes in knowing Jesus Christ on a personal level.

It’s not when you get those new designer shoes, it’s not when you meet the man or woman of your dreams, and it’s not when you’re cruising down PCH in a new sports car.

True fulfillment comes from knowing that your sins are forgiven and that you will spend all eternity in paradise. It comes in knowing that one day all your tears will be wiped away and that you will see God almighty face to face.

The promise of your salvation will revive and comfort you in your moments of trouble because you do have hope. Hope in Jesus Christ and not this fallen world.

How to Have Victory Over Your Enemy

Satan is a liar! He will try to use every trick in his book to get your attention, heart, and soul because he wants nothing more than to completely destroy your life.

“If you only had more money,” he’ll whisper in your ear, “If you only had a better looking spouse! If you only had more friends! Then, yes then you will be happy! If only you were the life of the party! If you only take these drugs! If you have all the sex your heart desires outside of marriage only then you are living it up, right!?”

Wrong!

Temporary highs are not worth everlasting lows!

The truth is, only Jesus Christ can quench your thirst and make you fully satisfied! Only God can fill that hole in your heart because true joy and contentment come solely from a personal relationship with Him.

The truth is, drinking of this world by living a life of habitual sin not only separates you from God and compromises your salvation, but it also leaves you always wanting more.

“And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?” Matthew 16:26

How to Be Satisfied For Life

Are the temporary highs this world has to offer us really more valuable than all eternity in heaven?

Brothers and sisters God has so much more for our lives than we could ever hope or imagine, but we need to relinquish the control and completely surrender them to Him first.

This world has nothing for you because sin is only fun for a season! After Satan lures you in, he’ll chew you up and spit you out leaving you broken, miserable, empty and dry. (Matt. 7:13)

Jesus Christ is the Only Way to a Life Well Lived!

Jesus Christ will meet you exactly where you’re at no matter who you’re are or what you’ve done. He came to save us, not condemn us, because He wills that none should perish! (2 Pet 3:9)

We no longer have to be slaves to sin because there is freedom in the name of Jesus!

There is a place for “things” and people but we must not allow them to be priority number one. We must not be consumed with them or elevate them higher than our walk with the Lord.

When we put God first, when we get right with Him, then everything else will fall into its proper place.

Peace, joy, hope, comfort, forgiveness, salvation and contentment await you so let go of this world and the lies the enemy is feeding you.

Allow that hole in your heart to be filled with the God who made you; with the God who sent His Son to die on a cross in order to save you.

Jesus Christ is all that we need, brothers and sisters, because true life is found in Him. He will comfort us when we’re hurting and loves us more than we’ll ever know. He knows how harmful for us sin really is and like a Good Shepherd wants us to follow Him alone.

“And all who thirst will thirst no more, And all who search will find what their souls long for, The world will try, but it can never fill, So leave it all behind, and come to the well”
