“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23

Based on that scripture, these are two key truths that the brothers and sisters from the Word on the Streets ministry share with the people of West Hollywood.

Since the beginning of the year, the Friday night Word on the Streets ministry has been consistently going to West Hollywood to share the gospel message of Jesus Christ.

The Preparation

The ministry leader has been preparing the group by teaching us the difference between the Old Testament Law of Moses (sin punishable by stoning) and the New Testament in which Jesus Christ came and died for our sins.

He also emphasizes that we are not there to judge anyone.

We must never forget that in God’s, eyes we are no better than anyone else.

The Message

One crucial point that we share with the people we meet is that we are all sinners who are in need of a Savior. We are all born with a sinful nature.

As a result of our sin, the Bible states:

“Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.”

-1 Corinthians 6:9-10

Therefore, the only difference between us and non-believers can be found in the verse that follows:

And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.”

-1 Corinthians 6:11

Although we were once living in sin, now we are walking in His truth because we have repented from our sins and accepted Jesus Christ into our hearts as our Lord and Savior.

Evangelizing on the streets of West Hollywood

Most importantly, we share the love that Jesus has for each and every person.

We explain that the Lord desires for none to perish, but all to come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

2 Peter 3:9 states, “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.”

As previously mentioned, we are not there to condemn or judge, but share the love of God in all honesty and truth.

The Response

Some people have reacted defensively and others have been very responsive.

We have experienced several divine appointments where the truth was spoken in regards to sin, repentance, eternity, and God’s love.

We have prayed with people and encouraged them to seek God with all their heart.

One such occasion took place a couple of weeks ago.

A Divine Appointment

A young man approached us while we were passing out gospel tracts.  He thanked us for coming and sharing the love of Jesus with the people in this community.

He told us he had just relocated to West Hollywood from out-of-state and was struggling with adjusting to his new environment.

He said he believed in Jesus Christ and had accepted Him into his life.

After we encouraged him to not lose heart and to keep his eyes on the Lord, he admitted that he was living a homosexual lifestyle.

He believed that his lifestyle was okay, but was still seeking the Lord on whether it was or not.

Our group had the opportunity to tell him that if he truly seeks the Lord on this issue, the Lord would give him a clear answer.

We encouraged him to read his Bible and attend a Bible teaching church.

Before he left, we asked him if we could pray for him and ask the Lord to show him the truth about his lifestyle.  He accepted our offer for prayer.

Moving Forward

As we continue to see the Lord’s hand upon our laboring in West Hollywood, our group continues to pray for protection, boldness, the softening of hearts, and for the salvation of many.

We must never forget that God’s Word never returns void and it’s His loving kindness that leads us to repentance.
