There Is Real Power in the Name of Jesus!

Jul 25, 2016 | 18 comments

Bible scholars record 37 miracles performed by Jesus Christ in the four gospels.

From walking on water and vanquishing demons, to bringing the dead back to life and healing lifelong infirmities.

And yet the biggest miracle of all was Jesus the Son of God paying the ultimate price on the cross.

To redeem us from our sins and make us blameless before a righteous Heavenly Father.

Jesus wasn’t all about turning water into wine, casting demons out of men, or resurrecting the dead.

He was all about saving us from our sin nature that prevented us from having a relationship with God.

He was about His Father’s business.

The business of God wanting to fellowship with you.

Think about it.

As a believer, you have as much claim to the resurrecting power of Jesus as did Lazarus.

Lazarus had been dead and buried for days before Jesus told him to “Come forth!” and brought him back to life.

In that same way Jesus is telling an unbelieving world to “Come forth!” bringing us back from the dead.

Yes, we are dead in our sins.

We are dead to all things holy without the power of Jesus.

Only Jesus Has the Power to Bring What’s Dead Back to Life

Which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Rise up and walk’? But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins—He said to the man who was paralyzed, “I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.” (Luke 5:23-24)

He is our Lord.

He is our Savior.

He is our God.

No other religion, no other man or false god, no other force has the power of Jesus to make you sinless and whole again. None.

Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Phil. 2:9-11)

Now that’s power!

But how many people truly appreciate the grace, mercy and magnificence of the power in the name of Jesus?

This name, which is above every name, has the power to save all mankind.

And it shall come to pass that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Acts 2:21)

And once saved, how many of us have tapped into that power of Jesus according to Phil. 4:13?

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

For those who are believers, have you ever wondered why the Word of God resonates with power?

A look at John 1:1 tells us why:

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

That’s right, the WORD WAS GOD.

And is God.

Unshaken, unchanged and as true today as ever before.

That is why when you read the Word of God it comes alive. It is pure power.

Do You listen to God Through His Word (Jesus)?

The voice of the Lord is powerful; The voice of the Lord is full of majesty. (Psalms 29:4)

The Lord Jesus was created in power, came in power, walked the Earth in power, and has the power to change everyone’s life today.

He is the Light of the world.

Who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself  purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. (Heb. 1:3)

There is power in the name of Jesus.

I don’t mean of a historic nature, I mean power today to give you new hope and new life.

And this salvation power springs forth from His blood.

God’s only Son was sacrificed on the cross for us like a lamb led to the slaughter to ransom us from sin.

That was the price God demanded, for there is no atonement for sin without shed blood. (Heb. 9:21-22).

Romans 1:16 is one of my favorite verses:

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.

That means all of us. Every last one of us. Everyone can come to the cross.

There Is A Reason the World Is In Chaos

Have you witnessed the chaos in our country and around the world today?

The more we remove God from society, the more we turn our backs on Him, the more chaos ensues.

It’s a recipe for disaster.

Black, white, brown, yellow, red, purple…it doesn’t matter what your skin color is.

Because Jesus didn’t come to save races.

He came to save SOULS!

A world that takes its eyes off God is a world that stumbles in darkness.

And sadly, that is plainly evident today.

But when all appears hopeless, remember there is power in the name of Jesus.

  • He brought us back into fellowship with a God who cannot look upon sin.
  • He ransomed all of humanity, paying the price once and for all.
  • He set our feet on a narrow path to do good works, where neighbor respects neighbor.
  • He splintered the bondage of sin on that cross. He set us free!

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. (1 Cor. 1:18)

When Jesus shed His blood on the cross He brought us freedom, forgiveness, salvation and eternal life…if we would only “have faith and believe.”

Jesus’ blood has impacted your life in one of two ways.

Either you answered His call and became His follower or you are ignoring His call to step out of the darkness and into the light.

The power of Jesus’ name did not end at the cross.

It came alive at the cross!

Who has come, not according to the law of a fleshly commandment, but according to the power of an endless life. (Heb. 7:16)

Jesus seeks the lost sheep, the heartbroken, the sinners.

He is here to resurrect us, all of us, those of us dead in our sins.

There is no hope for reconciliation with God without the forgiveness of sins.

And that comes through believing in Jesus as your Lord and Savior.

There is no other way.

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6)

It’s Time To Make Your Decision

For those who keep putting off making a decision … if you feel God is calling you, then hesitate no more.

Talk to God.

Tell him in your own words that you are ready for a new, more abundant life.

If you need help, here is a simple prayer.

Dear Jesus, I know I am a sinner, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe you died for my sins and after three days rose from the dead. I put my trust in you as my Lord and Savior. Fill me with the Holy Spirit. Help me to walk in your ways and to do your will. Amen.

If you prayed that prayer (or your own), welcome to the family of God.

We have no inheritance to God’s Kingdom without Jesus.

Because of Him, you can be called a child of God.

And that’s because there is POWER in the name of Jesus!

      Allen,
John 3:1-5 is not referring to water baptism. It is referring to being born naturally and spiritually. Verse 6 explains it. Water is referring to natural birth and Spirit referring to being born-again through Jesus.

Yes Allen. You will need to find and join a local church. You will need to get baptized in water as the bible instructed us to do! And you will be filled with the Holy Spirit and continue to serve the lord.

You must be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and filled with the genuine Holy Ghost evidenced by the speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance according to Acts 2:4 and 2:38.

If you want to know how to be saved according to scripture read the book of Acts and you will see how the early Church operated. Very simple.

God Bless you all in Jesus name.
