- Jesus endured the cross for us as the Author and Finisher
- Jesus spoke again to His Father
- He knew His Father was with and for Him
- His Father was near Him in His broken-heartedness and was the God of all comfort for Him (Psalm 147:3, 2 Corinthians 1:3-4)
- He had practiced going to His Father in prayer His whole life
- Prayer had become His default setting (Mark 1:35)
- He knew His Father was with and for Him
- Jesus committed His Spirit to His Father
- He had complete confidence that absence from the body was presence with His Father (2 Corinthians 5:8, Ecclesiastes 12:7)
- He was meditating on scripture (Psalm 31 NLT)
- Scripture guards our heart (Proverbs 4:20-23)
- He uniquely gave up His Spirit—no one took it from Him (John 10:17-18)
- In the depths of our pain, we have the same access to the Father that Jesus had
- We can commit our spirit to Him daily
- Hebrews 12:1-3 describes this moment
