  • Mark 5
    • Jesus has been ministering in difficult situations all day and all night (i.e. the storm, the demon possessed man, etc.) and there are more ahead
      • He is living by faith because the just live by faith (Romans 1:17)
        • Faith
          • Grows as we learn the word (Romans 10:17)
          • Leans not on our limited understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6)
          • Hopes even if we haven’t witnessed or experienced the fulfillment of promises (Hebrews 11:1-3)
          • Is a necessity if we want to please God (Hebrews 11:6)
          • Is victorious (Hebrews 11:30-35a)
          • Makes us more than conquerors even when we don’t see victory (Hebrews 11:35b-40)
      • The prayer of faith (v. 21-24)
        • We must get into the presence of Jesus on a constant basis
          • Jairus was well-known and his prayer was public
            • Prayer should be
              • Humble, earnest and sincere (James 5:16)
              • Without doubt and full of faith in God’s word (James 1:6-8, Mark 11:22-24)
      • The step of faith (v. 25-29)
        • The woman was unnamed and her prayer was private
          • She had heard about Jesus and knew He was the only answer (Mark 3:10, 6:56)
            • Others had shared their testimonies and those had reached her ears
              • She took a step of faith despite her history of everything else failing her (2 Corinthians 5:7, Matthew 7:24-27)
          • Jesus wanted more for her than silent prayers and hidden healing (v. 30-34)
            • He wanted to free her from fear, shame and isolation. He wanted a relationship with her
      • The test of faith (v. 35-37)
        • Jairus has become more desperate from waiting, but Jesus isn’t wasting time
          • Jesus wanted more for him than quick solutions. He wanted to see Jairus’ heart (Deuteronomy 8:3)
      • The victory of faith (v. 38-43)
        • Prayers of faith, steps of faith and tests of faith lead us to the victory of faith (1 John 5:4)
          • Faith doesn’t prevent tribulation and heartache (John 16:33)
          • But the perspective of faith sees things spiritually according to the truth of the Word regardless of what is happening in the phys
