  • The Old Testament is a vital part of our faith as Christians (2 Timothy 3:16, Luke 24:44, Acts 20:26-27, Romans 15:4)
  • Revelation 11
    • There is a temple that will be built in the New Jerusalem, and the Jews will worship there (Zechariah 2, Ezekiel 40-43)
    • The Antichrist will sign a peace treaty, and it will initiate the 7 years of tribulation (Daniel 9:27)
    • At the 3.5 year mark, the “abomination of desolation” will take place
      • The Antichrist will sit in the Holy of Holies and declare himself to be god and worthy of worship
      • This will break the peace treaty, and the Jews will revolt
      • This moment initiates the age of the Gentiles (2 Thessalonians 2:3-4)
    • Matthew 24 is a summary of the entire book of Revelation
      • Timeline for the rapture and second coming
        • The rapture of the church will occur
        • The 7 year tribulation begins with the signing of the peace treaty
          • The tribulation is the first 3.5 years (42 months)
          • The great tribulation is second 3.5 years (42 months)
        • At the end of the tribulation, Christ will come again, put his feet on the mount of Olives and initiate the battle of Armageddon
    • “The two witnesses” in scripture
      • Joshua and Zerubbabel are two anointed ones historically. They were anointed for the work of the ministry (Zechariah 4:14)
      • The two witnesses in Revelation will proclaim the Gospel to the whole world (Revelation 1:20)
        • There is not clarity in scripture over who they are
          • It could be Elijah (Malachi 4:5), Moses (Luke 9:30-31) or Enoch (Genesis 5:24)
      • They will be martyred, and their death will be seen, and celebrated, by the whole world (Psalm 79:1-3)
        • But they will be resurrected, and this will be used by God to bring more to salvation
  • Zechariah 5
    • Vision 6 & 7
      • The Jews had brought back some worldliness and compromise with them from Babylon
        • Vision 6
          • There is a banner that is 30×15 feet flying in the sky
            • Exodus 32:15
              • On the front side are the first 4 of the Ten Commandments
              • On the back side are the back 6 of the Ten Commandments
            • Leviticus 19:2, 18 and Deuteronomy 6:4-5 are the heart of the law
              • Deuteronomy 28 explains the blessings of obeying the law and the curses of disobeying the law
            • Specifically, the 8th commandment (stealing) is mentioned on the banner
              • He is confronting their unwillingness to give (Malachi 3:8-10)
            • Specifically, the 3rd commandment (perjury) is mentioned on the banner
              • Not taking the “Lord’s name” in vain is about not misrepresenting Him and His character
            • God is exposing their secrets (Galatians 6:7-8)
              • According to Matthew 6, we should only have 3 secrets as Christians (giving, fasting and praying)
                • Anything else that is secret in our lives shouldn’t be there
        • Vision 7
          • There is a large basket with a lead disk on top
            • It has a woman inside, and her name is “Wickedness”
          • They had allowed materialism and commercialism to corrupt them (Nehemiah 5)
            • This is the reason Jesus turned over tables in the Gospels
          • In this vision, God puts a lid on it
