Calling all you athletes here at Calvary Chapel South Bay!
We’ve got a ministry that will strengthen your physical muscles and your spiritual walk with the Lord!
No, it’s not group Zumba at the gym or your normal church service here at CCSB…
Yep, you guessed it!
It’s our CCSB Sports Ministry!
Every summer, teams of believers meet at Wilson Park in Torrance to shine the Light of Jesus Christ at the softball fields. And, every fall, you’ll find your brothers and sisters in Christ praying for a strike at the Bowl O’ Drome in Torrance for some fun and fellowship in our Sports Ministry leagues!
You don’t have to be a professional athlete or an experienced player to participate. Our aim is to glorify Jesus Christ and to have some fun!
The focus of this ministry is to reach out to those who are unsaved through sports, whether it be players on the fields or spectators in the stands.
Merging the Physical With the Spiritual
Not only does this ministry encourage athletics and overall physical exercise through sports, it also merges the physical with the spiritual through prayer, devotions, koinonia and the teaching of God’s Word.
Each player receives a devotional booklet they’ll read before each game and discuss with each other before they start playing.
Prayer is also a way God’s presence and power are manifested in this ministry.
Teams not only pray with and for each other throughout the season, but also before each game.
Here’s the 4-11 on the Sport’s Ministry
Although the sports ministry is fun for the whole family, actually playing in the ministry is reserved for players ages 16 and older.
These leagues are not competitive.
The goal is fun – not winning the game. We have players who are very talented and experienced and also players who have never played before.
Therefore, no team trophies will be awarded in either the softball or bowling events.
Instead, after every season’s championship softball game, all the teams gather together for a huge potluck celebration.
So, no matter what your skill level is, you will play in every game and be placed on a team.
The cost to play to play softball is $35.00 per player, which includes your team shirt, devotional booklet, and a spot on the team.
Space is limited and is on a first come, first serve basis, so come on out and sign up before it’s too late! You won’t want to miss out on all the fun we have here at the Sports Ministry!
It’s time to dust off your old softball glove and bowling shoes and get ready for the time of your life!
