How To Get The Strength You Need To Overcome Weakness

Dec 14, 2015 | 22 comments

But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.” – Isaiah 40:31

Everything going on in our world today is not a surprise to God.

He’s not been caught off guard.

He’s not been sleeping while our world rages out of control, even though it sometimes feel like it.

God is still on the throne.

And He still has a plan and a purpose for everything going on in the world around you, and in your own personal life.

As Christians, we are not to curl up in a ball of timidity.

We are not to give up hope or drown our sorrows with a tub of our favorite ice cream.

How does God want you to handle the cares of this world?

He wants you to lay them all down at His feet.

He wants you to “cast your cares upon Him, for He cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7)

When Troubling News Comes, Do You Panic Or Pray?

“I, Daniel, was grieved in my spirit within my body, and the visions of my head troubled me.” – Daniel 7:15

The current situation the children of Israel were in during their captivity in Babylon, plus the future prophecies Daniel received from the Lord about the End Times, could have easily broken him. (Click here for more information about the End Times)

The weight of all the stress, disorder, chaos, and oppression could have caused Daniel to shake his fist at God and turn away.

But that is not how he handled the disheartening news he received.

“In those days I, Daniel, was mourning three full weeks. I ate no pleasant food, no meat or wine came into my mouth, nor did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.” (Daniel 10:2-3)

He was discouraged, downcast, and despaired. But he was not destroyed.

Daniel chose to run to God in prayer, supplication, thanksgiving, and fasting.

He had every reason to allow fear to paralyze him, and discontentment to intimidate him.

But Daniel chose instead to trust God, and rely upon His strength during his moment of weakness.

Like Daniel, we are to stand with God and rely upon His power, His might, His strength to accomplish His will in and through our lives.

Because the strength we need to get through every trial, every tragedy, every tribulation comes solely from the Lord our God.

“Then again, the one having the likeness of a man touched me and strengthened me. And he said, ‘O man greatly beloved, fear not! Peace be to you; be strong, yes, be strong!’ So when he spoke to me I was strengthened, and said, ‘Let my Lord speak, for you have strengthened me.’” – Daniel 10:18-19

You are to seek God. Make your requests known to God. Walk in obedience to God. And trust in God with all your heart.

When you do, God will strengthen your feeble knees.

He will strengthen your weak hands.

He will strengthen your inner man.

And He will strengthen your troubled and broken heart.

“And God will provide rest for you who are being persecuted and also for us when the Lord Jesus appears from heaven. He will come with his mighty angels,”- 2 Thessalonians 1

Not only will you experience rest when you’re called home to heaven, but God also promises rest for you while here on earth too.

No matter how many precautions you may try and take, tragedy and suffering are not something you can avoid or prevent.

Your life is held in God’s hands. And although you may make your plans and your to-do lists, He is the one that ultimately determines your steps.

God is the one that ultimately directs your paths.

But along this road, there will be bumps.

There will be twists, turns, and forks in it.

But no matter how difficult or trying your own individual path to everlasting life may be, you need to hold on to that hope you have waiting for you at the finish line.

Whatever momentary afflictions you’re facing today will not last forever, and are producing for you a glory that outweighs them all. (See 2 Corinthians 4:17)

A glory that does last forever!

The 6 Promises That God Promises You

Jesus doesn’t promise to give you every single thing you want.

But, He does promise to provide for you every single thing you need.

1. He does promise to give you the strength you need to endure and persevere.

2. He does promise justice for the wicked and comfort for you who mourn.

3. He does promise a better life awaiting you in a place where all your tears will be wiped away.

4. He does promise a sufficient amount of grace, that is made perfect in your weaknesses.

5. He does promise you the power of His Holy Spirit to be all that He has called you to be.

6. And He does promise to give you peace in the middle of the storm.

So if you’re suffering right now, please take heart in knowing this life is not forever.

Please take heart in knowing that you have not been left all alone.

Staying hopeful and remaining joyful no matter what you’re going through is possible with God’s supernatural strength.

One day Jesus Christ Himself will appear from heaven with all His angels!

One day you will be in heaven!

So rest in your Savior’s loving arms today.

You were never meant to walk through this life on your own.

You were made to be completely dependent on the Lord your God.

He will show Himself strong and mighty on your behalf!

Jesus will step in and save the day!

How Can You Overcome the Wiles Of The Devil?

You can’t overcome the wiles of the devil without God.

You can’t find joy and peace in the midst of the storm without God.

He alone has the supernatural power you need to live a victorious life here on earth because it is in your weaknesses, that He is made strong. (See 2 Corinthians 12:9)

It is in your need that He steps in and shows Himself faithful.

And it is in your dependency that He shows Himself able.

Because trusting God gives you the strength you need to never lose heart and never give up.

God loves you more than you could ever imagine, and has a plan for your life, and everything you’re going through right now.

You may never know exactly why God has allowed something to happen this side of heaven.

You may not always agree with His choices of directions or circumstances.

But you can trust Him in the midst of the uncertainty.

You can praise Him and have a heart of gratitude in the middle of the storm.

And you can keep pressing forward no matter who or what tries to break you down or stand in your way because you are a child of God!

You are more than a conqueror in Christ Jesus your Lord!

You can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens you! (Philippians 4:13)

10 Areas of Weakness That God Will Transform By His Strength

1. The strength to overcome temptations:

“…And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.” – 1 Corinthians 10:13

2. The strength to be victorious in trials:

For the Lord your God is going with you! He will fight for you against your enemies, and he will give you victory!’” – Deuteronomy 20:4

3. The strength to love the unlovable & forgive those who’ve hurt you:

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” – Philippians 4:13

4. The strength to give until it hurts:

For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.” – Philippians 2:13

5. The strength to get outside your comfort zone with boldness:

“After this prayer, the meeting place shook, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. Then they preached the word of God with boldness.” – Acts 4:31

6. The strength to take steps of faith:

“This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1:9

7. The strength to trust in the Lord with all your hearts:

Trust in the Lord forever, For in YAH, the Lord, is everlasting strength.” – Isaiah 26:4

8. The strength to press on in the midst of persecution:

“In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation. 11 All power to him forever! Amen.” – 1 Peter 5:10-11

9. The strength to never give up during affliction:

“With this news, strengthen those who have tired hands, and encourage those who have weak knees. Say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, and do not fear”, for your God is coming to destroy your enemies. He is coming to save you.” – Isaiah 35:3-4

10. The strength to cross your finish line on into everlasting life:

“And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.” – Philippians 1:6

Thank you so much Amanda. This message is very encouraging. It is so hard to see the finish line when you are stuck in a hurdle and that’s all you can see because it is consuming your time and energy. Even true Christians go through moments of doubt and uncertainty but, like Paul said, it is in those weak moments that God shows his strength. Amen! God bless you!

Aw amen! Thank you so much for your comment and words of encouragement =] =] In my daily reading today i was in Revelation 5. It talked about Jesus and how He alone is able to open the seal that John saw in his vision….it made me remember just how strong our God truly is! Stronger than us…the strongest angels…and stronger than satan himself!! So when trials and hard times come, i need to remember just how great our God is! As Christians we are on the victorious side and need to keep our eyes on Jesus Christ…the One who “alone is able”! =] Amen! God bless you!!!

Praying God continues to encourage you, strengthen you, and keep you safe and secure in the almighty palms of His hands! =]

  7. Erika

As a servant of the Most High God, knowing that He is my strong tower, my Shield & that He is forever the Lifter of my head. I especially, am grateful for this massage. My recent bout with spiritual stress….serving at church & relational prayers brought me into weariness with the feeling of faint. This message was the confirmation I longed to receive from Him. Come…I will give you rest. Thank You Lord Jesus?
Amanda, I pray, in Jesus name, that you be blessed of God, in abundance. Amen

    • Amanda Cook

Awww thank you so much Erika! I can definitively relate to what you were going through. Sometimes i feel soooo weighed down with oppression and just the different burdens I tend to try and carry myself.

I love 1 Peter 5:7 “Cast your cares upon me for I care for you”. So many times I try and press forward in my own strength, and then of course when i can’t, God always reminds that it isn’t through my strength that I can do all things….it is through Christ’s strength! Philippians 4:13 has definitely become one of my “life verses” because God truly does step in and show Himself strong and able when I am weak. =]

I pray God continues to encourage you, and remind you just how mindful He is of everything you’re going through! Hang onto Him! “He will perfect all that concerns you!” =]

      Psalm 138:8 for you Erika!

      God bless you!
